Diary Study
A diary study's main benefit is the otherwise unobtainable overview a person's interaction and experience when using a product over a longer period of time (usually days or even weeks). Participants record product or service usage as it happens. The diary can contain text or audio messages, pictures or sketches. Due to the nature of the technique it is necessary to have a working version of the product (suitable for deployment during closed beta testing).
Our experts will collect and analyze the feedback from participants during regular debriefing meetings.
Benefits
- You will know when, where and how frequently people use your product or service.
- Reveals usability issues otherwise undetectable during normal moderated usability testing.
- Subjective prioritization of issues by participants.
Deliverables
- List of prioritized issues (with annotations from our experts).
- List of suggested improvements based on the issues identified.
- Screenshots, audio or video clips based on the study details.
How long does it take?
Usually a few weeks. The optimal study duration depends on many factors such as software type, complexity and also participant type (how much time they spend with your service or product).
